On the Line

Fly fishing is a passion for me and many others who live in Bend, Oregon. There are wonderful rivers and lakes where a person can get out in nature and drift a fly through rushing riffles and silent eddies. Wading in water and listening to its song and watching its kaleidoscope design on the surface is a rich experience. Fishing is not necessarily about catching but about seeing, listening and feeling. In this, unfortunately, out of focus picture of my son standing in thigh deep water Deschutes River, at least I have captured a special memory of a father and son outing on a Friday evening in early July. It is moments like these which add value to my ever shortening remaining life and something to share on Scenic Sunday.

nice pic :) Fishing is fun - I am lousy at it though :(
Spending time with loved ones is the best way to create unforgettable memories :)

I like the photo. And I like the idea of a father and son fishing...my son is now taking his son fishing just like we used to do...

Did you have your white balance set on tungsten or flash perhaps? It's a nice color, whatever.

Jacob; I know this seems hard to believe but we often have these amazing purple-hued sunsets. This color is just about accurate. How often I have seen such remarkable reflections on the water at dusk and have said that it looks like fantasy.

That is pretty amazing...I think what makes it more vivid and concentrated is the reflection of the sky on the water.

Love the color, though.

When I got out of the military in 1969, I spent my last year in Bend. I fished with my dad, usually up around Brown's crossing, where he could still walk a short distance to the river.

In the fall, I had some great fishing when Wickiup lowered down. I caught some nice browns that year.

I live a half hours drive from the Big Hole in Montana now, and the fishing's as good as a geezer could wish.
