seeing double

At the edge of a wooded area in Bend, Oregon, there sits the remains of the chassis of some old logging equipment. I found the wheels and spokes especially intriguing as they related to the meadow of flowers in the foreground. Like a science teacher who has placed a skeleton before an anatomy class, this contraption's rolling stock demonstrates the physiology of the flowers which are carpeted before it. It also reminds us of the sun and its rays. Other posts have spoken of how nature reflects itself over and over in things large and small. This picture repeats this notion with unusual clarity.

Yes, the macrocosm and the microcosm: "as above, so below." That concept has always been important to me and I'm very happy you see it too. I probably would have missed the connection between the wheel spokes and the radiating flower petals, though. That's a very subtle one and easy to miss.

Thank you for sharing---I am totally amazed at people who never look around and never see anything and than again I am totally amazed that there are people--like you--that get (see) it. YAY!!! MB

Absolutely gorgeous photograph, Lee! Stunning, really!

I love these old contraptions, and especially wagon wheels. The colors are perfect, and, as usual, your commentary is insightful and provocative!

I thik this is one of your best photos. The profusion of yellow flowers is so compelling, and the photo is beautifully composed. The colors all go together so well, but then Nature is pretty good at that! I haven't been much of a wagon wheel fan, maybe because they end up in people's yards so often looking out of place, but this set of wheels does look attractive in situ, and I'm glad you pointed out how it complements the flower shapes. I probably would have missed that.
