Central Oregon and Bend, Oregon, has had, like the rest of the country, its share of cold weather this week. In fact on Wednesday evening the ambient temperature dropped to 12 below zero, which is highly unusual for this area. The daytime temperature has warmed up considerably since then and much of the snow in town has melted, but last night there were fresh snow showers in the mountains and I had my first glorious day of downhill skiing. I feel fortunate to experience a variety of weather and seasons here. I know there those of you who look at the above Bend citizen and are reminded of all the snow they have shoveled in their life and are glad to be done with that. There are benefits too. I saw a father and son create this stalwart denizen. It was an act of love and joy.

Terrific shot, Lee! Reminded me of my days in Montana and my kids building snowmen and snow -- whatever, sometimes it was hard to tell, but they did have fun. Glad you got in a day of skiing!!

I think that's what you do and it is also part of the key to happiness.

Very nice pic, there. He looks quite animated, and the shot came out nicely.
That snowman brings back one of the oldest memories I have. It reminds me of the snowman my father made for me on the balcony of the house in Flushing, N.Y. where I was born. I couldn't have been more than three years old, because it was before my sister was born. It's one of the few memories I have of my father, and one of the earliest memories I have of anything.
What I wouldn't do to build a snowman! Lovely seasonal shot.
Duh! I did know those planes although in my childhood they used to fly banners rather than write something. I remember the ones at the beach most vividly, they advertised for ice-cream! Sign o' the Copenhagen times maybe if they are less used?
